Popping in for a mid-hell-week update on Fiddler. It's going... well... it's going. I know a lot of you have done theatre shows... and this? Well...

As our director (David) said last night, the actors suck. First dress was one of the worst shows he'd EVER seen. And as Richard added, everyone basically has ONE costume. It shouldn't have been this difficult (the poor Russians though... they have a LOT of fast costume changes).

However, I'm the only one who, at notes last night, got a 'wonderful job'. Usually as all David does is tell you you suck (even if you're doing a good job. It's just David's crazy way) so a complimenet is one of those 'must write this date down'.

It has, though, been a blast being on stage. Whether it's up on my really freaking high roof or down on stage dancing in 'To Life' it's been an absolute blast.

WHICH brings me to the really cool thing -- and completely unrelated to Fiddler. A few weeks ago, I got an email from Mrs Co about a job opportunity. It's a dance/fiddling touring troupe called 'Barrage' (has anyone heard of them or seen them perform? If so, let me know how it was and some stuff about it). From what I gather, it's like Riverdance for fiddlers. I've had SUCH a good time doing Fiddler that I'm seriously thinking about sending in some information to them and see what happens.

Oh...dear... that really doesn't sound verygood at all - the show problems, that is. The information from Mrs Co though, that sounds very nifty!

I can see if anyone at GMU's music department knows anything about Barrage, if you'd like?

Ah, Fiddler. I was a villager in that in my freshman year of high school. I hated it. I hope you are tons better than our fiddler, though.

I have heard of Barrage... I think they performed in Nashivlle not too long ago... say ..in the last 5 years... I think. But I have heard of them... I will see what I can find..

Aren't the fiddlers that were in one of Shania Twain's video from Barrage?I can't remember the name of the video but they were playing and dancing in the rain.

http://www.barrage.org ~ their website. I think they were the ones that came to Nashville after looking over their site. And Lia, I knew you were good but wow! It has got to be a major honor to be approached by them!

Good Luck! both on Fiddler and the possible job. We didn't do Fiddler in school, they did it last year at the High School the girls will be going to and it was good! I know it's hard work too though.

Uhm, they perform at Wolf Trap (national park for the performing arts outside of DC) every summer, and from what the Wash. Post reviewers always say, they're supposed to be quite good.

We did Fiddler in one of the many high schools I attended, and I remember it being an enormous amount of work. A cool presentation, though, when we finally got it put together.

Sucks that your actors aren't up to par. :( But yay for the email re: Barrage!
