Live blog as it goes -- or at least, as I remember to update this.

And yes, I'm getting started a little late. So sue me.

ETA: as of 11:01 -- we're all done. Running commentary starting about at 8:30 and running through the end of the awards.

Why can't Hugh be back to host? Please? )

Oh my GOD do I want to be at the Tony's this year. My beloved Sondheim is getting the lifetime achievement award. And there's a special award being given to Robert Russell Bennett for achievement in orchestrations. (yes, I'm aware he died in 1981.)

Show is June 15th at 8pm on CBS. Yeah, Whoopi is hosting. Not sure how that one will be. Can we have Hugh Jackman back? Please? *points to icon*

The most surprising thing? Young Frankenstein garnered THREE noms. Quite a cry from the 13 (I think?) noms that The Producers got years ago. Hell, it's not even up for best musical!

*g* though, my Sunday in the Park with George did QUITE well with 9 nods.

Full list of Noms as taken from Playbill.com )

The top nominees?

In The Heights, 13
Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific , 11
Sunday in the Park with George, 9
August: Osage County , 7
Gypsy, 7
Passing Strange, 7

Couple of things in closing: I'm glad none of the kids chosen by America for Grease got nominees. Somehow, it'd cheapen the whole thing just to have two kids chosen by America win Tonys. I'm sure they're wonderful, but because people can pick up the phone and vote doesn't mean a damn thing.

And yes, I'm rooting for Sunday to take home all 9. I'm sure it won't but I want it to. And I will be seeing Sunday after the Tonys, so it'll be interesting to see how everyone fawns over the show. It'd be wonderful for Sondheim to win best revival for it, as he really lost out in 1984 with Jerry Herman and La Cage Aux Folles. And, of course, Jerry Herman was so gracious in his acceptance speech: "the simple, old-fashioned musical was still alive and well at the Palace". Because, you know, Sondheim's score is on the very verge of atonality. But I digress.

*sigh* And it makes me sad to think of Sunday and Dr H and half of the stuff in this post were things we talked about in his office. Woe.

So, it'll be interesting to see how things pan out. Who do you think will take home the awards?

Well -- the saga with the bow continues. After fighting with the insurance company for the past... three days, it looks like it will be covered. Thankfully.

I'm getting a couple of bows in the mail today (where's the damned delivery guy. *sigh*) and I think the folks and I are going to Cleveland this weekend to go to do some more bow shopping. So huzzah and yay. Life goes on. It just... it was such a shock.

In other news, Tony Nominations came out yesterday. Some REALLY good looking stuff on there. My other love is up for one -- Michael Cerveris. Yaye.

So the big nominated shows are Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens, Curtains, Legally Blonde The Musical and Mary Poppins -- at least musical wise anyway. *cough* [livejournal.com profile] froda_baggins and [livejournal.com profile] thewlisian_afer -- anything look good? XD (*roots for Spring Awakening* Can't tell you how many people have said good things about it)

Well... I ended up doing exactly what I thought I'd do -- essentially slept for a week. And yey, I feel better and can actually go ten minutes without yawning my head off. I SWEAR this is a record.

Going to be gone for the whole of the day as I have two visitors arriving in a few hours going by the names of [livejournal.com profile] froda_baggins and [livejournal.com profile] thewlisian_afer. We're hanging out here for the rest of the day then it's time for House in the evening. YEY.

I know I have a crapload to catch up with, but it'll have to wait until Wednesday some time. I hated to disappear for a week, but mental health-wise, it was SO what I needed. I feel like I can write again. Huzzah.

In other news, TONY nominations came out today. A lot of great stuff is up for awards this year and the best part is that a lot of these could go any way. There's no overall favourite (that I can see) up for an award this year. Should make for a fun TONY night. *mutter* now if they'd tell us who was going to be presenting *cough*hughjackman*cough* I'd be a happy camper.

The massively long list of TONY nominees. In other words, more people besides Ralph Fiennes were nominated. )
