First of all, may I thank everyone who voted in the poll. It's still open, so if you haven't, feel free to go back an entry and add in your thoughts. I'm astounded by the response back I got. ♥ You all are wonderful.

Now, I get to ramble on about the results. :)

I'm not sure why I'm so curious about fics and people's preferences all of a sudden... but it's interesting to look at trends in fandom. And when I have so much good input, why not write about it?

I'm glad to see some of you take amusement in ticky boxes and squid. Thanks. Also, remind me never to write polls after a mindless German class. That may have contributed to some of those ticky boxes.

I was somewhat surprised by some of the results and not as surprised by some of the others. In both the reading and writing categories, it ended up with the One-shots getting the most votes, followed then by the long chaptered fics with the PWPs coming in last. I was somewhat surprised by that, simply because in my experience with fandom and what I've seen when browsing around, I more often come in contact with the PWPs over than the one-shots (be them pornish or not). Perhaps it's just where I've been searching though.

Interesting enough, some comments I got on the WIP category were that you'd rather wait until it was finished before reading a WIP (then, I guess it really isn't a WIP anymore, is it?). I myself tend to do that, when I have the attention span for a long fic. However, what struck me as odd was that everyone did it for the same reasons: they didn't want to see bastardization of characters by the end or have an author simply abandon the work. Thoughts on this? If you're a lover of WIPs, why?

The pairings section I found most interesting. I've heard bitching about lately in regards to not enough het mentioned in newsletters, etc. I don't want to bring up the issue again as it's like beating a dead horse, but look at the poll. 109 people voted (and while some were squid only XD), 72 write slash and 49 write het. The HP fandom is slash heavy so obviously there's going to be more slash. Do these slash writers write every day? Of course not. (I haven't written in a while but that's beside the point.) There's also gen-fic at 44 people, threesomes (or more) at 25 and femmeslash at 15. Thus, the editors can only rec what is out there and is good. It is at their discretion after all. And that's all I'll say about that (as I really don't want to turn this into wankage or a flame war -- it's simply results of a poll. XD)

Finally we have what people read, and again, it's slash heavy. I'm almost curious as to what's the most read pairing in fandom, but that poll may be saved for another day.

Again, thanks everyone for voting. It satisfied my curiosity. :)
