Kids... say the damndest things

Teaching one of my lessons today with the one who is probably my most favourite student. We were talking about the fun exercise of doig scales with one's metronome. Not my most fave thing to do, but as a teacher I can make my students do it. :D
Kid: But I don't wanna.
Mother: *chuckling because kid is such a drama queen* It nearly killed him last week.
Me: That which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
Kid: Yes, but that which kills me makes me dead.
