Cedar Point Day!

I have... officially... been to an amusement park. Well, let me rectify that. I went to Darien Lake as a child, and of course there's loverly Waldameer right here in Erie, but it's not the same thing as hitting up Cedar Point.
*squee*
After much planning and figuring out WHEN we could,
xpolmex and I finally managed to meet up. Yaye! And wow did we have fun.
After the fucking RAIN. Yes, it rained. I got there at about 11:30 and she was there close to 1ish (stoopid traffic and road closings for her travels). We just started to walk around when the sky bloody opened up. THen it stopped. We walked into Planet Snoopy and then the rain began. Let's just say it didn't stop for about an hour and we had hail. Yeah, not cool. (Also not cool was the fact that I got to drive through the SAME storm on the way home!)
Lunch and the rain finally stopped sometime after 4pm. Then... we started the roller coasters. I preface this by saying the ONLY coaster I've ever been on is an old wooden rollercoaster that we have here in Erie. here it is, if you're curious. Basically. It's about 60 seconds. No major falls or anything and has been in operation since 1951.
Cedar Point? WHOLE new thing. And I must say -- I rode 4 more coasters today than I planned on riding!!
First up was The Corkscrew -- which... was nearly enough for me. I wasn't prepared for the jerkiness of the old style coaster and banged my head several times against the restraint which made me sick to my stomach. However, I was convinced to go on the Magnum. Let's just say it goes up 205 feet, drops you about 194 feet... and at a 60 ° angle. Going up the first hill, I think I freaked
xpolmex out. *wince* but omg it was absolutlely outSTANDing. After that, I was ready to take on the park.
Next came the Gemini. Which is awesome because it's two coasters going side by side. AAAND it was wooden. :D Then lastly was The Mean Streak was the last one we did. Poor
xpolmex doesn't like it but went on it for me. It's the ooooold fashioned rickety non-steel coasters. Which, for me? major nostalga.
Iwimped out said we'd do the Mantis and the Raptor next time. But seriously had an absolute BLAST. And like I said -- 4 more than I thought I would. :D
The day after? HOMG am I sore. So maybe the Mean Streak wasn't the greatest plan ever. *shifty* *may or may not be going to Waldameer before the weekend to ride ours*

I am glad you had a good time. CP is really one of the best parks out there and one of the oldest.

Date: 2008-07-24 06:29 pm (UTC)It really is a great park, and I really am surprised I haevn't managed to get there before now. I do love our local one, which, for the size of Erie, we have an awesome park. *g*

Date: 2008-07-24 08:46 pm (UTC)The Blue Streak is also awesome, as it's the oldest coaster in the park and about the only one where you spend a significant amount of time with air between your butt and the seat. :)
