This... is really for all the musicians on my flist. Or lovers of classical music.

Anyway -- this was sent to me and I MUST forward it on because it's freaking hillarious. It's a guy ranting about Pachelbel Canon in D. The funny thing, is that it is -all- true.

Give it a watch, guarantee you'll laugh your ass off.

I knew without reading any comments and before he went there, this was DEFINITELY going to be about that cello part, but OMG. I mean, of course that whole series of chords underlies a lot of stuff, but all in a row: HA.

It HAS to be about the cello part. I mean, it IS a crappy part but important for the groud bass, but STILL. *sniggers*

I'm STILL laughing and I've been watching this for a while now.

"The second violins get a pretty melody. And that just shouldn't happen."

I'm not a musician or a classical music lover, and I thought this was hilarious. I'll have to send a link to my musician in-laws.

Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome! Some of the humour is really geared towards us crazy musicians, but the rest? *g* don't have to be a classical lover to love this. :D

o.< But damnit, thinking of music makes me want to have 1) a flute icon and 2) get back to flute. But it's too damned cold to play something that is silver and utterly chilled.

-snuggles as well-

As someone who played the cello at age 8 when they are still to this day bigger then me, I nearly died laughing at this. Sucky cello parts are why I switched to choir.

*SNIIIIGGERS* That part... it's really true. *g*

There are times that Cellos have the really cool parts. They're rare, but they do exist. My fave line is the: "the second violins get pretty parts, which just shouldn't happen"

Pachelbel's Canon! *TWITCH* OMG. HATE! DIE DIE! *shudder*

I think I'd be more ok with it if it weren't the main theme in "Ordinary People" a movie which should be dropped to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. :P That and the fact that my friend played that song on repeat for an ENTIRE MONTH!!! *headdesk*

*pant*

/rant

But it was a great sketch. XD And so very true. *sigh*

I haven't seen the film.

And dude, I'm obsessive about repeating things. Like the soundtrack I sent to you. I've been listening to it constantly for over two weeks now. But it's pretty. Canon is just... very, very overly played.

I've played it at ONE too many weddings.

I'm sad that lately Studio 60 hasn't been all that amusing. Come on, the coyote that followed the ferret that followed the snake? It's a bad fanfic waiting to happen.

AHAHAHAHA that was great. My daughter took violin last year (4th grade) and tried cello at the beginning of this year but gave up because it was too hard to walk home with a cello :P She'll probably be glad she won't have to play those 8 notes 54 times.

*sniggers* I'm sure she will! Though, as a violin teacher -- I have to ask *g* is she still playing violin now? XD

Yes, she's still taking violin now in 5th grade. Her teacher thinks she's doing fairly well (for having class only half an hour twice a week, and not really practicing). But M would rather sing, so she's planning to take Chorus next year in middle school. I don't think Nadia Salerno-Sonenberg has anything to worry about ;)
