The monthly check in

I swear to god... when I get back to school I *will* check in on this thing more than once a month. Some things have to change this year... and I'm starting here.

And all of you get to give me a good swift kick in the ass if I DON"T do it.

I also need a good swift kick in the ass to actually WRITE again. I have about four unfinished fics on my computer... just staring at me. But one I haven't touched in a year. It's that Bring-Back-Ianto fic I started. And, well, the SIJ folks soured a lot of the joy in that fic for me. X) But I don't know... part of me feels bad for not finishing it (as I did like where it was going). But the other part? Says it's been a year and anyone who would have wanted to read it has lost interest.

As far as the fic goes, I'd say finish it if, and only if, you want to. I'm sure that if you start posting again you'll get new readers (and old readers will remember), but if there's no joy in it for you--screw it.

If you don't do it, you let the SIJ freaks/trolls win!!!! But no, seriously, if you still want to write the fic and you still love it, do. If you don't, chuck it in the bin and write something else.

With the fic, I believe it gets down to why you write. Do you write to please others or to please yourself?

After you answer that question... then decide if you want to write it. I would read it, but that is me. As a writer there has to be joy in it. Either the joy in getting the story written or the joy in others reading it.
