It just seemed odd and suddenly there to serve a purpose, you know? A "oh, must tell Snape's story so let's have him leak all his memories to Harry!"
I was happy with mine as well. Save the doing it all for Lily I nailed EVERY reason why Snape was still good. Along with the Horcruxes too -- though I really didn't want to have Nagini and Harry be ones.
