First off...
nassima, I owe you an email, and I'll get that out to you shortly. It's on my to do list. *loves muchly*
Second: The Snap Cup Meme
Get the explanation here. Basically, you post your LJ name and then look for people you know and post anon and say nice things about them.
Here is me!
Third (wow, many points in this post!): for the first time in about four months, I actually participated in a
queerditch_pub afternoon. Couldn't do the evening round because something came up. *grumble mumble*
Anyway, 2 drabbles today. I really like them both, especially the first one. Feedback is always appreciated!
The Longbottoms: Neverland
Neville has always been a quiet child. He doesn't speak often, even when spoken to. His Gran tries to get him out, but she knows when he retreats to his room there's a time just to let him be alone with his thoughts. He's so small though, she has no idea what he can think about at the tender age of seven, but she figures it's best to let him be.
He climbs the stairs to his room, and curls up on his bed; the latest trinket from his Mum clutched in his tiny hand. Closing his eyes, he holds onto the few memories he has of his parents. Anymore, Neville isn't sure if they are real memories or if they are simply things he has made up to have some form of comfort in his life.
As he drifts off to sleep, the gum wrapper in his fist, he dreams of his parents and of a place where they are all together and he will never grow up and they know who he is when he sees them. It's a place he finds only in his dreams and where time is never planned.
It's his Neverland.
Slytherins weren't allowed in the common rooms. Lily was a Prefect. She knew she should have kicked him out the moment she saw the flash of robes as he darted up the stairs to the boy's dormitory. Lily pursed her lips. Half of her wanted to go upstairs and find out what was going on, but another part of her... hung back.
They were family after all. Two brothers who had managed to be separated by the lines of dormitories. Then again, Lily never knew Sirius to be upset over the separation from his brother. If anything, she thought he was happy for the dividing line.
Hiding herself in a corner, Lily waited for Regulus to return. She was nearly asleep by the time he returned as silently as he had come but this time, she stopped him.
"You're not allowed here," She said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"And you're up past curfew," Regulus replied, pushing past Lily without a second glance.
"I could dock you points for being here, you know," Lily said to the back of Regulus's head as he walked past. "It would get you in trouble."
Regulus stopped and turned around. The points didn't bother him. Points had been deducted before and they would be long after he had graduated from this institution. However, if his reasons for being here ever got out...
"You will say nothing," Regulus replied, stepping closer to Lily, "because I wasn't here. Just leave it be. For once in your life, leave it be."
His mouth descended on hers, as if sealing their silent contract with a kiss. He wasn't as good-looking as Sirius, but in that briefest of moments, Lily saw that both of the Black brothers had their charms with women.
"Fine. Just get out of here."
Regulus left the common room and Lily returned to her chair, wondering what was beginning to transpire between Sirius and Regulus. She would never know that she was completely wrong in her assumptions of the two brothers.
And Remus slept peacefully upstairs, a contented smile on his face.
