attempting to post via email...
Mar. 8th, 2007 05:00 pmI'm in the library here on the UofM campus and just thought I'd check in
with everyone. I"m attempting to post via email, so we'll see how this goes,
eh?
Oh god... I"m already starting with the whole 'eh?' business. *headdesk*
In any case, things are well up here in Canada. My audition is, at last,
over and done with so I don't have to freak out anymore about it. I think it
went decently. I know I played well. Could always have been better, but you
know how that goes. I was satisfied, so I suppose that's what really counts
in the end.
The interview, however, I don't think went so hot. I gave some VERY candid
answers and I have a feeling it wasn't what they were expecting to hear from
me. But whatever. In my oh so humble opinion, what they see is what they
get. I've dealt with the whole conforming thing for 4 years at BW. I'm not
about to do it again. If they don't like my opinion that locking one's self
in a practice room does absolutely nothing after 4 hours... then... that's
just how it goes. Because they looked a little shocked that I would even
-deign- to say such things. Like I said -- this is what I am. You don't like
it, then that's just too damn bad. Rose says they might not have liked the
'brash american'.
The one -bad- thing about the University thus far is the whole school
itself. It's... well... rather run-down. And for the Cleveland folk, I'm not
talking run-down like CIM is. CIM is just 50s-ish strange. This is...
different.
And there's no hall. The orchestra just rehearses AND performs in a room
that's big enough for them. Which, after playing in Gamble... I don't know
if I could really go back to not having an amazing performance space. *sigh*
so I don't know. I mean, I haven't even heard if they want me or not. So --
we shall see. It's just going to be a lot of thinking to come, and weighing
the pros and cons for certain.
But... that's all she wrote. Only have a few more days up here then I'll be
back in the states.
Oh -- and Cleveland people? Please give Strasser a good swift kick for me. I
just found out that I won't even be accepted to the school on the graduate
side without my diploma. The man said he'd read my paper over spring break
and let me know how it was. This is Thursday of 'spring break'. I've yet to
hear from the man.
See Lia NOT amused.
