• I fucking hate my extended family on my dad's side. My grandfather practically ruined Easter. He finally called after 3 fucking years. And managed to cause even more problems. *sigh* Fun times only, y'know, not.
• Watching s2 of Doctor Who today, I realised I keep having more contacts with people in that show. see picture. That was from meeting Daniel Evans last year when I saw Sunday in the Park with George. Watching 'Christmas Invasion' today... TOTALLY didn't realise that was him as David Llewellyn.
• Is something screwy going on with IJ today or is it just me?
• Speaking of WTFs... where the hell did my default icon go?
• I have comments. Will be replying to things this evening. ♥ Counting down the weeks left that I have to teach, thank god!
• I'm seeing people talking about Dreamwidth lately and it's making me sad. It just feels like more and more people are splitting off and I'm afraid I'm going to lose contact with folks. I may not comment a lot, but I do read and after being here since 2003, LJ is like my home. But at the same time, I have this odd twisting in my stomach thinking of losing more people off my flist to yet another site. Yes, most of us have moved on from HP or aren't as into it as we once were... but still. Gah. *sigh* I just don't want my flist to disperse any more than it already has. *clings to you guys*

Also, yeah. I like the idea of Dreamwidth and am waiting on my own invite code because I'd love to check it out, but all this splintering and cross-posting is so tiresome, you know? I wish people would just go somewhere and stick with it... and I feel bad if what population there is on IJ jumps ship to DW and leaves that site to rot. All the asylums there are so low-traffic anyway, I'd hate to see it drop even further.

One of the improvements over LJ to the DW code is the capacity to cross-post and cross-follow from within the dreamwidth platform, in case you haven't seen that yet. This means I could, for instance, choose to move to DW for posting entirely, and still show up on your flist here via mirror. I have seen many people say this is parto f their plans.

John's been talking about being a dad for some time. It's one of the reasons he and Scott got married. He's also joked about how most of his female friends keep offering to be the birth mama, esp if John fathers it naturally. ;)

I might check out Dreamwidth but the problem is I have no code, know no one with an account and don't know what they'll charge for a paid one. Plus I dont know if I want to bother with going to yet another place. :-/

Yup. I actually got a code yesterday and set up an account but haven't started posting or crossposting. I'm going to let things go into the open beta and settle down for a while, see what everyone else does. And I'm trying to think of useful things to do with my IJ account -- thinking about cross-posting my wordpress blog there in the short run (since I do post in that one about twice a week or so), it's mostly a knitting blog but it would be original content.

Yeah, see that's my thing -- I didn't want to crosspost because I get bored reading crossposted content myself; and because I update from the web, I can't do it automatically anyway. But if Dreamwidth does have automatic crossposting to LJ, that's something I might be interested in because I have a lot of friends on LJ who have no interest in moving anywhere else (including IJ.) So while I read my IJ flist every day, I only post every few weeks or so...

It sounds reasonably priced and I might check it out just to reserve my name assuming someone hasn't already nabbed it. (It's bad enough I had to wait a year to get it on IJ after someone had sat on it for like 3 years doing nothing and the other name I wanted was nabbed 3 days before i got on IJ by someone I couldn't stand -- who used it for a community she posted to twice and has since abanoned and deleted her IJ account. And I still can't get it!)
