An Update of Sorts...
Well, it's about time I updated over here. There's been a LOT going on in my life lately and finally now the dust seems to be settling and it's about time I filled you guys in. As such, I'm going to be cross-posting this a bit so if you see it a couple of times, I apologise for that.
So here's the update broken down. It's not too long, but if you feel like skipping most of the post, all I ask is that you read the section on 'my future'. ♥
LAW SCHOOL
Before you ask, yes, I'm still in school. There's a part of me that wants to turn tail and run, but in the end I decided to stick with it since I'm 2/3s of the way through. It hasn't been the easiest past few years in school, but if it was easy everyone would do it. I have decided, however, that I'm not taking the bar immediately after I graduate. The stress will kill me, not to mention I'd go so far into personal debt (on top of all my school debt) in order to take it. And no, I'm not exaggerating either. Between the prep course, the bar, and paying to stay around here for two months I'm looking at between 7,000-10,000 bucks. And once I made the choice not to take the bar, I was so much happier and so much less stressed.
WORK
I have, however, applied for a job. It's in the legal department at Random House working as a Legal Assistant (aka, paralegal). Honestly? I don't mind not being an attorney. The job is legal research and researching copyright claims. It'd be a DREAM job. It's posted up for another month or so, so keep your fingers crossed?
MY FUTURE
Here's... my big thing. After so many years of fanfic writing and RP, I've finally started to really step away from it. Eventually I'll finish fics? But right now my attention has turned completely to my own fiction. I'm sure there's a group of you who are thinking it's about time.
Well, needless to say, I realised that no matter what, I need to separate my professional life from my writing career. Not to mention, those of you who know my REAL name, know it's a, not easy to remember and b, not easy to spell correctly. Consequently, I have set up a pen name already. It's all about the author branding any more. This is going to be the only time I talk about it in my journal (though I may pimp things here from time to time), so if you would like to follow things as I get going, I have links for you.

So yes, that is my big announcement. I'm currently about half-way through my SECRET PROJECT NOVEL (sitting around 33k) and have a bunch of ideas that I'm writing down for another day. I am very excited about this too so if you'd like to follow the journey, I'd love it. If not? There's no pressure whatsoever. ♥
